Tierra Mexicana: A Candle That Smells Like Home

As I sit here with my girls trying to pack for NYC next week, witnessing their excitement for that moment, I can’t help but reflect on another journey I’ve been on—one rooted in memory, tradition, and scent.

Celebrating Mexican Independence Day in a Personal Way

September is one of the most festive months for our culture. Mexican Independence Day falls on September 16th, but for many families, the celebration lasts all month long. Whether it’s through food, music, or family gatherings, every little tradition brings us closer to our roots.

For me, celebration often comes back to smell. Scent has the power to transport us home, no matter how far away we are.

The Inspiration Behind Tierra Mexicana

When I close my eyes and think of Mexico, the first scent that comes to mind isn’t food or flowers—it’s earth itself.

🌿 Wet dirt after the rain
🌿 Fresh wind weaving through mango trees
🌿 The cool, soft sand beneath my bare feet

Those scents hold my barefoot childhood, and I knew I wanted to capture them in a candle.

Over a year ago, I poured a candle just for myself—a fragrance that felt like stepping back into my childhood. Recently, while organizing in our candle room, I thought: Why am I keeping this to myself? Why am I not sharing this with the world?

That’s how Tierra Mexicana became part of our Spanish Candle Collection.

What Tierra Mexicana Smells Like

Tierra Mexicana is an earthy scented candle with notes of patchouli, moss, earth, grass, and green leaves. It’s grounding, fresh, and nostalgic—a candle that truly captures the feeling of home.

If you’re looking for a cultural candle to celebrate Mexican heritage, or simply want a scent that feels natural and soothing, Tierra Mexicana is a beautiful addition to your home.

A Candle With Heart

This candle is more than fragrance—it’s a memory. It’s childhood walks in the rain, it’s running barefoot outdoors, it’s the grounding connection to the land that raised me.

I’m honored to finally share it with you. A little piece of my heart, my roots, and my Mexico.

Shop Tierra Mexicana today and experience it for yourself.

And who knows—maybe one day I’ll figure out how to capture the smell of the elotero (street corn man) in a candle too 😂🌽

Con cariño,

Ruth
